Duncan Custom Blues

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

SWEET:D That deco has a single coil flavor to it ? What's the story with it?
Is it coil tapped of a P-90 style PuP ? As always your playing is AWESOME !
It has a fusion like feel to it. I haven't heard JB's Blow by Blow in years
But some how it make's me think of that album?

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

KMC you are too kind. That is a 10k neck pickup with an a2 magnet. It has a fat sound but it's still glassy. Very cool pickup.

I think I was listening to Blow by Blow a lot when I started this tune :D

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Love those slippy chords, really cool digging in on the notes. That vibrato is just singing!! Very nasty turn that track takes, I love it!

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

You have one sick vibrato man :headbang:

I really like this tune man, that neck tone is exactly what I like for a neck pup tone

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Thanks a lot you guys. I will be doing some clip listening here this weekend :)

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Wow you can really tear it up with that slower stuff. That tone is incredible!!!

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Wow, talk about tone. It's great that you have so many of the custom shop SDs and post them so that others have a sense of what they can offer. I really dug your old Deco clips and the new ones sound amazing as well. :)

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

:) Thanks again, forum bros.
This tune is on my instrumental CD that I just finished. I am glad you guys like it. It started off as a short demo that I did for MJ, then I expanded on it.

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

:saeek: awesome!!!! great tone, great chops.... love it!!!

btw, where'd u get the backing track?

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Thanks Cory
I put the backing track together with ACID loops. If you'd like a copy, I will upload it.

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Can you tell me more about these custom shop pickups, combination, etc? I'm new to Seymour Duncan pickups (your clip made me post) and I'm curious about what my options are. I have a '58 Reissue LP with Tim White "Timbuckers" in it, but I'm not completely happy with them.

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Welcome to the Duncan forum SouthernShred.
The custom shop does custom winding and such. You can request a derivative of a production pickup, or make your own specs. They are very busy, but I always find that it's worth the wait.
Some of the pickups are spec'd by popular players like Holdsworth, Scott Ian and Peter Green. There is a list of some common custom shop pickups off of the main Duncan web page http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/products/customshop.shtml

This particular neck pickup is a Deco 2 10k, with alnico 2 magnet. The "Custom", in the bridge, is actually a production pickup but it's called a "Custom" :D It has a ceramic magnet, which gives it a certain edge.

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Wow, Stevo, this is really one of your coolest clip... the sound of this pickup is amazing... as well as the playing. What a toneful clip. Great work!

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Sly - thanks for listening. It's nice to hear from a good player like yourself. I love the way the Deco sustains.. so fat but still bright.

MJ from the custom shop told me that this was her favorite of my tunes :)

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

You know what u should try. Go on with this blues and then switch the key a couple of times (Say go up a wholetone, or go up a 5th - like JB does sometimes). You can also put some altered chords or transition chords in between the chords - and use the appropriate melodic minor scales and things for them... (I'm a big fan of fusion)

Re: Duncan Custom Blues

Well, well, well, some actual tone on the Duncan forum! Who'd've thunk it?!! :D

Ah, I could never play anything decent over a groove like this.
Very nice, indeed, Stevo!!
