Duncan custom or Livewire metal?

I have an ESP LTD F-100 FM w/ an agathis body. I currently have a Dimebucker in it. There is nothing wrong with the pickup but in this guitar I think it has a bit too much bite. I parted out a crappy, rundown Jackson and it had a Livewire in it so I wanted to put that in the F-100. Then I read a couple of posts about the Custom thickening up the tone on some guitars and it sparked my curiosity. Obviously I play heavy s**t so I was wondering if anybody could tell me how this pickup compares to the Livewire. Putting an active in my "bidness" isnt really an issue as there is plenty of room for both batteries and I have the correct value pots. I was just wanting some opinions on both pickups. Oh, also :smokin: when I had an EMG 81 in a previous guitar, it generated alot of feedback. Does the Livewire do this too?

Re: Duncan custom or Livewire metal?

Is it a Livewire classic or metal? There's a pretty big difference in the two.

I don't know if it is a classic or a metal. It sounded pretty crunchy in the Jackson before it was dismantled. I couldn't find any discernable markings so is there any other way to tell?

You know, I don't remember if there was any other markings. The LWM will overdrive your amp under almost any situation. It's prone to feeding back, but it's controllable. Since you've already got it, what does it hurt to try it. If you don't like it, you can always try the Custom. The LWM is usually too much pickup for most people.

Re: Duncan custom or Livewire metal?

It was definitely overdriving the amp on clean so it's probably a metal. I'll try it and if it sucks, hello Custom! Any other pickup suggestions from anybody for metal?
