Duncan Custom variant

So I like the Duncan Custom but I would like it to be slightly more scooped. Ive tried it with an alnico 5 and didn’t care for the lows and highs of it in this particular guitar. Is there a pickup like what I’m describing? Thanks

Duncan Distortion. Not exactly "scooped" but flatter across the mids.

You might try a 59, and just use a little more gain.

What does "didn't care for the lows and highs" mean?

There's tons of pickups that are like what you are describing, seeing as you are not describing much.

Are you certain "scooped" is what you're after? If it's a small change you want, maybe get an EQ pedal?

Perhaps you could provide a little more detail about what you're trying to accomplish?

Chistopher well with the a5 I felt the highs lacked the aggressiveness that’s I want and the lows lacked the tight chug I want. After I put the ceramic in it was like pu woke up and want to kickazz but now there is this little mid bump thing going on that the a5 didn’t have. I guess I’ll just use a eq pedal to reduce the mid bump like Masta' C recommended.

Try a double thick ceramic. I don't know how it would come across in your guitar, but you might find that it raises the lows and highs in a way that balances better with what you're trying to do.

EQ pedal is a great option for tone shaping as well.

Scooped at what frequencies? I think the Custom is pretty scooped in itself, especially if you start comparing it to other high output pickups.

I do think the Custom has some upper mid aggression... do you want to get rid of that?

Maybe the Dimebucker?

Also, FWIW, I tried the double-thick ceramic Custom when I had it, and I found it raised the lows, but not the highs. I always liked the Custom's agressive high-end and couldn't get along with the slightly thuddy low-end, but the double ceramic magnet made the problem worse for me.
