I have a Schecter Gryphon with Duncan Design HB-103 Humbuckers. If these were regular Seymours instead of Duncan designed, which Seymour Duncan Humbucker would it mostly resemble.

Thanks

They were horrible. Ripped them out of mine. Put in a JB/'59 set, and they sound great.

Maybe it was they didnt work in your guitar, they worked great in mine for 5 years or so, then someone gave me some free Duncans so i swapped them out since its my only standard spaced guitar. Overall i really liked them, especially for korean pups ended up messing with magnet swaps. Though they are modeled after the DD its not an exact copy, the magnet is only a normal ceramic instead of the double thick one. But it sounded good to me, not shrill or anything.

to the OP why do u inquire in the first place. I admit the neck pickup is a tad muddy but Arties De-Mud mod would help that.

Re: Duncan Design HB-103 Humbuckers

I actually like both pickups, and am starting to find sounds that actually work with the split pickup setting. I almost don't want to change anything, but the low E gets really muddy. Still, much better than any guitar in this price range hands down. I found out a few weeks ago the one I got had some history on the road with a live band! lol It was a little road worn, bought it off my nephew cause he hurt his arm and didn't want to complain or act too picky. Suprisingly good guitar. Shocked!

I a curious about getting some different pickups as I like something a little tighter. Might get the EVH Wolfgangs (I like those in my wolfgang but to have that sound in a 24 fret guitar would rock!)

Re: Duncan Design HB-103 Humbuckers

If the low E gets muddy, try lowering the bass side of the pickup a bit, and raise the low E or A pole pieces.

Re: Duncan Design HB-103 Humbuckers

I had the neck model come in a guitar when I got it. I thought it was pretty decent actually! But I had a very specific tone in mind so it, the Scorcher and the Detonator had to go. The Detonator was pretty damn good though. Almost kept it.

Re: Duncan Design HB-103 Humbuckers

I don't particulary like the HB103B, but the 7.68K neck p'up is a great sounding PAF-like p'up with either an A5, A4 and/or A2 mag in it.

HTH,

I like the stock neck HB-103. One of my favorite high gain lead tones.

Bridge...not as much.

Re: Duncan Design HB-103 Humbuckers

These things are wonderful cheap finds on ebay. This is good for people who want to experiment with 4 wire conducting pickups via push/pull and switching options.

Thats how i learned to wire my preffered circuits, in epi SG special and a LP special II

They have a long enough lead to be more than generous in correcting any boo-boos.

Sound wise, a bit harsh. the HB108 detonator sounds 10x better IMHO but is VERY VERY boomy. plus the two sets of pole pieces being allen head made adjustments easier
