I know this will probably get some biased answers but I want to know how good are the Duncan Designed HB-102 pickups? How do they match up to the JB? Are they more of a hot or warm sounding humbucker?

I have played the Schecter C-1 Elite with them in it. Personally, I like the HB-102's because they are more "crisp" than the JB. I have also played the Schecter C-1 Blackjack with a JB in the Bridge. I thought that it sounded a little muddy. But thats just imo. If you get a guitar with Designs that you like then dont you could just swap them out for DUncans

My Jackson DK-2S came with Duncan Designed HB-102 in the bridge, it actually sounded pretty good.
I swapped it for a DiMarzio Super Distortion, and while it is an improvement, it's not as dramatic as I had thought it would be.
I have a Schecter C-1 Classic with JB in it, and that guitar sounds amazing.
Basically, if you can afford a JB (or any other after market pickups), go for it over the Duncan Designed, but if you can't, they are actually not bad pickups. (IMHO of course)

DD are not bad at all. The bridge pickup that came in my Jackson DK-2 was great!

I have the 102 set in a Schecter Tempest.
Put it this way.... I can drop any Seymour Duncan pickups I desire into that guitar. And I haven't changed out the stock Duncan Designeds.

1 of my guitar came loaded with dd and they were great , but i upgraded to emg's 81 and it became awesome

I love the DD's in my Samick Cobra. I think they're based on the DD, though. HB103's I think.

yeah these detonators blow, i sucks balls at picking up the high E string, i cant wait to get my dimebucker and DD in its gonna sound way better.
of course my new pickups would already be in my long & mcquade ordered in the wrong one :yell:
