Duncan,dimarzio for this guitar?

roadstar II

New member
I need to replace a emg for basswood/birch body ibanez guitar(ROADSTAR II series)
this guitar has a very strong acoustic tone that can be considered bright
it has a all maple neck and a fender type trem(non locking)
I was after something that will sound fat and ballsy but have a bit less output than the 81 does?

Re: Duncan,dimarzio for this guitar?

I am going through a very similar thing
I have a fender lone star strat(alder body all maple neck) and am thinking of trying a dimarzio tone or air zone in it
these are supposed to really warm up a bright guitar
the tone zone is the ballsier one with the better BURN so that may be best coming from a 81 :)

Re: Duncan,dimarzio for this guitar?

A Breed will warm up a bright guitar, so will a Super D.

My favourite "warming" pickup is the Gibson Dirty Fingers...

Re: Duncan,dimarzio for this guitar?

Custom or Custom Custom would be my first choice. Another option would be something from Duncan's Parallel Axis series. I haven't tried any of the PA's myself, but they get rave reviews.

Re: Duncan,dimarzio for this guitar?

I have a custom in a roadstar two, except mine has a rosewood board and the heftiest locking trem thing known to man... it sounds great but I'd say my guitar sounds a little dark as opposed to bright
