Duncan Distortion/MArshall Demo

Hi...someone posted this over in the gear forum awhile back, and thought I'd post it again.

This is a Marshall amp demo w/ guitarist Chris George (who RAWKS, BTW, and is the reason I saved this/kept the link). He is demo'ing several Marshall amps, including an 2203 RI, DSL, AVT and M4

After some research I found out the Chris is using a Duncan Distortion bridge pup in the guitars (Fret king Esprit is the Firebird style one) he used for this demo. This should def give people a great idea of how the Distortion sounds, since some people have a misconception (which I was guilty of having at one time) that it's a fuzz pedal in the shape of a pup. Def hot, but can also do so great classic rock sounds as evidenced by "Black Night" (the first track, demoing the 2203..it's an old Deep Purple song for those who do not know)

He also does some Iron Maiden on the DSL, Some Hendrix on the ATV, then gets into some drop-tuned stuff I have no idea of what it is on the Mode4, ... even some classic Gary Moore (Gary's version of Free's "Wishing Well"). Great playing and shows off how well the Distortion works for various rock styles (even that drop tuned crap all you kids listen to these days :laugh2: )

Just watched it again..and it made me wonder, what is the last song he plays? Damn that song f'king rocks.

Edit: cool, didn't know he actually is an SD endorsee.

Pretty cool. I like his style and tone when he demos the 2203 reissue. I lost my stream when he was playing the DSL. I thought the tone was a little lost in the mix on that jam.. whatever, I love Marshall tone for the most part I like the DD too

He's a new Bareknuckles endorsee I believe ..seems like the newer guitars on his webpage have the BK pups....?

The last song is the Gary Moore version of Free's "Wishing Well". Sounds great on that Mode4. If they made that amp in a 50 Watt version, I do believe I'd have to try one. He gets some great tones out of it.

Yeah the DSL does get a little lost on the low e String it seems (prolly due to using the deep switch) in Losfer Words. They do fool around a bit with th various switches and manage to get some nice lead and crunch sounds out of it. The 2203 sounds best to me too, but the Mode4 sounds better than the DSL (when they set it for a more "classic" Marshall sound and not that drop tune stuff).

And yeah CG can play. Excellent timing and phrasing...he def has excellent command/control of the instrument. Love watchin players like that who make it seem effortless.

Hmm..Maybe he is an Barenuckle endorsee, but he is on the SD site, if you search the artist database..But maybe I'm wrong..Are all the artists in the database endorsed, or is it just a list of well known artists using SD pups?

And thanks for clearing up which song it is.
