Duncan Distortion Neck in Bridge? (Plus Magnet Swap Questions)

Hi guys,
So about a month ago I bought a DiMarzio Super Distortion to put in my PureSalem Mendiola (all mahogany if you think it matters) and I wasn't very satisfied with it, it just doesn't feel 'alive' like the JB does in my strat. I've found a post online for a Duncan Distortion Neck, would it be a suitable option for my guitar's bridge position? I've heard that it can be a very bright pickup in the bridge, but I have a Kent Armstrong 6-Shooter pickup that has an A5 magnet and I was thinking I might be able to swap it in the DDn instead of the ceramic magnet to warm it up a bit. Would that be an easy thing to do for someone who's never done something like that, if it's even a good idea in the first place?
Thanks.

Not too difficult. And an alnico will be much more lively than the ceramic, especially if you're in the habit of using your volume knob. You might think about an A8 magnet for that pickup. They're only a couple dollars and it will give you more output than an A5 would, plus a fuller tone overall. A bit less scooped sounding.

I have one sitting around that I sometimes think about swapping mags in, to use at the bridge. But mine's a vintage Seymourizer from before they were called the SH-7 and I sort of hate to mod it.

im glad to hear that lol. im looking for a beefy growling tone (kind of like the band "Silverchair"). do you think this pickup with that mod would be able to pull that off?

I'd be interested in how it would sound. I would think I'd even like it better than a stock Distortion, as I don't really get along with most ceramic magnets. I don't know if you would achieve 'beefy and growling' out of that wind, but I'd still like to know what you think of it.
