Duncan Distortion versus the PATB1

Hi guys- I've never used a Duncan Distortion but have heard great things about it, especially since it has some awesome George Lynch credability.

Can you guys give me an idea of what some of the differences are between the PATB1 and the Duncan Distortion?

What could i expect putting either in a bridge of a HSS strat with a maple board?

Thanks!

PATB1 is very fat, warm, loose, moderate output
Duncan Distortion tight, aggressive, high output

Probably the Duncan Distortion is the most descriminating of the guitars it goes in of the two pickups. Can be bright or harsh if not in the right guitar. Doesn't sound bad clean at all. The PATB1 sounds good clean. Not as crisp. I think it can get flubby. Still overall a great pickup. An HSS strat with a maple board definitely the PATB1 over the Duncan Distortion. I'm thinking the Duncan Distortion will be a little bright and harsh. It's output is very high and to match the SS with it would limit your choices to very high output single sizes like Hot Rails. That's my 2 cents!

Re: Duncan Distortion versus the PATB1

The PATB1 is perfect for the maple.
Distortion is better in Darker guitars..
If you like Duncan Distortions agressive character ,get the PATB2 Trembucker distrotion. It's Similar agressive and output ,but the PATB2 is definetly an upgrade..(Wich i made in the past too)

I don't agree that the PATB1 is loose..It's not loose and with heavier gauges ,it delivers the nicest sustain and harmonics.
But if you're in speed riffage ,Arpeggios etc ,get the Distortion or PATB2...In your case ,the PATB2 is your best bet!

Re: Duncan Distortion versus the PATB1

Thanks guys- Would either the PATB1 or PATB2 work in the bridge of my japanese strat with maple fingerboard?

I'm looking for something that would pair well with singlecoils in neck and middle- i'm thinking something like a dimarzio VV Blues and Area 61 in neck and middle slots.

Thanks
