Duncan Distortion w/500k pots: Will this give it extra "oomph"?

K. I dont know what to do. I want a pickup with a screaming high-end, very low bass and mids up the ying yang. I have heard the Duncan Distortion has that. With a 500k pot, would it make it even more intense?

Or should I just get the Metal Livewire???

DD's should be used with 500k pots as a rule, as far as I'm concerned. I love my DD, best passive pickup I've ever tried. In some ways is better than the 85, but I love em both.

That does descrbe the Distortion, and 500k is normal for a passive humbucker. 500k will allow more highs through than a 250k.

What about a live wire metal, a Trembucker distortion (PATB-2) or an Invader?

dimarzio tone zone with a 1 meg vol pot will nail that description with ease :saeek:

The pat2b is better in my oppinion than the sh6. It has less compression and more gain and the lows are natural and somewhat open compared to the sh6. I have tried them both.

hmm sounds like an interesting request. You can make any pickup scream with the right setup is my advice. My low output Antiquity II strat pickups 'wail up the wazoo' through my old peavey classic and it has no distortion channel.

Its hard to make stuff scream with the wrong setup, what do you play as this will give us a better idea on how to achieve your tone?

well, if i go passive, i'm going to get the jackson dk2 (hss) and if i decide to go active i'll get the jackson dxmg (hh)

oh, and i'm using this guitar/pup setup for death, thrash, speed, and heavy metal. metal is my desire and that's what i shall have!!!

Both guitars are the same body wood/trem/neck joint, Alder, bolt on, locking trem.

Go passive.
