Hey. Eq is something I wanted to try but didn't think it would give my tubes the kick in the ass I was looking for. Then again I can side with you that eq should definitly shape the levels where needed. I know I was not in need of more distortion thats for sure. I am running the OCD like a clean boost I added no gain at all. Just tweeked the tone knob cranked the volume a bit thats all. It pushed the tubes into fantasy land. Instant classic dimed Marshall tone. The Evh pickup with some added reverb put the icing on it all. I was playing along with the classic atomic punk yesterday and it was pretty dam close to that tone. I feel pretty happy with it. I may fiddle with an eq next for extra tone shaping.

I just ordered the OCD. Most are paraising it. Here and on harmony central. The sound clips sound pretty cool as well. I will coment soon.

Where did you order the pedal from? Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it?

I'm glad the OCD worked for you. I've had a lot of Fulltone pedals, but still haven't heard that one. I really should get one, although I'm happy with my Klon and also use the boosts on my amp.

I ordered the OCD from www.musictoyz.com. It was backordered about a week but there in high demand. I paid 164.00 I belive. Definitly alot of bang for the buck. I wish I had a way of recording some clips for you guys to check out.

I'm one of those that would like to try out the EVH, but having read this I feel that I have to suggest a JB instead of a booster. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you don't need a booster of some kind, it's just a suggestion. I am going to try out the EVH. You might wanna listen to this clip. This is done on a plexi superlead 100 w -67. Here I have a strat with heavy ash body and a two peace maple neck with the JB. Distortion wise I don't want more, and all the overtones and high ends are there. The mids could be a bit big but I don't know. I'm told that the EVH does not have that out put. You guys know the sounds of both pick ups better than me so... feel free to compare

I gotta say your clip is pretty impressive. The JB didn't do such a bad job. But the EVH will definitly take you even closer. I had the JB in a Jackson I used to own it's a cool pickup for sure. I believe now 3/4 of the EVH tone is in the cranked plexi the other 1/4 is in the pickup and all of the other gear he had rigged up variac, eq ect. I think you will like the EVH much better than the JB when you try it. I also own a Genesis Mr.B pickup which I han not installed yet. It's supposed to shine even more than the EVH. I will post a review after the install for sure.

Compressors create feedback out the wazoo. I use my TS-808/baked TS-9 and my Zakk Wylde overdrive as boosts for my Marshall OD. Seems to add another heavy layer beneath my tone and really make it heftier and more sustaining. You don't have to go with expensive tube OD.... just a nice $80-$120 modded Tube Screamer or something to boost it. Talk to STRATDELUXER97 about his TS-9 mods, they're probably going to help your tubes scream.
