Duncan Invader Neck usage in bridge position

Hi,

Has anyone tried to use Invader neck in the bridge position?

I want a modern-sounding pickup, but not high-output, and not as bright as classic PAFs, with more mids and bass.

The guitar is Epiphone 1275 Double Neck, the pup is intented to be used in 12 strng neck.

I think some of the chime of that 12 would go away. I think something like a Custom Custom (which you can alter with different magnets to get radically different voicings) is probably a better idea for that 12 string neck.

I think that Custom Custom might be overpowered for 12 string. Is it loud pickup?

It is louder than a typical PAF. But I wonder...how do you use the 12 string? Clean? With distortion? The Custom Custom has a ton of mids, which a lot of lower output pickups don't really have. I tend to like more scooped pickups for 12 string, but you are sort of the opposite, and there just isn't a ton of choices in mid-heavy/modern with lower output.

I use 12 strings clean, or with overdrive. Distortion is used rarely. I have other 12 strings with vintage-type humbuckers, or single coils, but I want this particular guitar to have modern sound, less vibe, 'colder', thicker and smoother.

Have you considered a Black Winter set? Or a Pegasus/Sentient set? They are both very modern, and much tighter than vintage pickups, but also very versatile, too. The descriptions don't really reveal how versatile they are. I think they have the modern cold thing down, though.

I had a nightmare trying to find a useable 12 string neck pup for the Epi double-neck I had. I ended up with an A2P, with an A3 mag, though something cold n' clinical might be a far better option to avoid the low end overpowering everything.

Well, if you do decide on just 'cold and clinical', that describes the Jazz, but it doesn't have the mids that you say you need.

I'd already tried the Jazz before the AP2, amongst others. Had it not had a cover on, I'd have mag swapped, but thought it easier to sell it on, and try other things. I'm not stipulating mids, I'm agreeing on the more cool/focused options :)

Edit: I've just realised that this is about the bridge position, not the neck, d'oh! By comparison, no issues there, with most things being useable that I tried.

Does the neck Invader still come with that little cap underneath the tape grounding out some of the highs like it did back in the day? If yes, give it a try as is and if you find it's a little dark, yank that cap.
