Hi all.
Has anyone used these yet? These being the Duncan Lipstick pickups?
I am interested in trying some, a SRV fan here (as I am sure there are a lot here) and he uses some lipsticks albeit Danalectro I believe on one of his guitars...

Thanks for any info!

Re: Duncan Lipsticks

I have a set in a Strat clone. They're very bright and jangly. Plus, they look super cool.

Just so you know, Evan is the VP at Duncan, and we're very lucky to have him as a brother on the forum!

As for the Lite Ash Fender stuff, they are Duncan APS-1's...

hehehehe weellll yeah his signature and sidebar info and that kind of stuff sorta gave it away to me :)

yeah it seems cool to have a actual duncan guy that stops in from time to time!

like i said just checking to make sure they are something special being made for those guitars...

They are not being made special for the Lite Ash guitars, you can go to any duncan dealer and get APS-1's

Re: Duncan Lipsticks

hmmm being very new to all this changing pickups etc, what exactly are 5-2s? i played a lite ash strat and really liked the sound and thought about putting them in a mexi strat i have

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!

Re: Duncan Lipsticks

The BRIDGE model lipstick sounds great used in the NECK position with other style vintage pickups... the neck & middle versions of the lipstick are VERY LOW OUTPUT...

Duncan uses 2 kinds of magnets in Single Coils, Alnico II and Alnico 5. You can do a search on the forum for all kinds of 2 vs 5 info, it is all over. In short Alnico II has more mids and less bass and treble while Alnico 5 has more bass and treble and a little less mids...the 5/2's use alnico 5 on the wound strings to keep things nice and tight and solid on the bottom and uses alnico II on the plain strings to keep them smooth and not ice picky.

That said, Im confused...Evan said that the Lite Ash guitars use %/2's and the Fender site says APS-1's, so Im confused...

Re: Duncan Lipsticks

all of this was brought on because i played one of these and really liked the sound, i ran it thru a hot rod deluxe like i have here at home and it was nice, i just wasn't crazy about the clear body... i know i know blasphamy i am sure, but at any rate, i just dont see paying $600+ for a guitar that says made in korea :( i can't get over the USA is best, so i decided to try to hunt down a set for my mexican strat, at least i am not buying a new guitar (i know it really dont make sense haha)
