Duncan SSL-3 in middle position is too bassy

Hi everybody. I just moved a Duncan SSL-3 to the middle position and it sounds good, but has no highs to it. I have a Kinman in the neck and it sounds fine and has plenty of treble. Any suggestions to add some high end to the SSL-3? I think the tone pot is a 250K so I might try a 500K. I just put a HB in the bridge and it could use a little treble, too. Thanks!

Moving up to 500k is definitely a good idea. Have you tried to lower it?

And also ensure the pickup's bass side is lower than the treble; sounds basic, but it can have a big impact.

If you have one handy, it is worth a try. You can even bypass the tone pot completely.

the ssl3 isnt a bright pup so the kinman will be significantly brighter. as others have said, lowering it and keeping the bass side lower. a higher value pot will help the middle and bridge sound brighter, is the neck pup on its own tone pot? i frequently remove the tone control from the middle pup and that might be a good solution for you
