Thanks guys, I am leaning toward the stacked Duncans. I know Bill Corgan in his strat uses rail pickups that are hot with lots of lows so a part of me says to go with rails. Then again, that is what he uses live, a strat. I am mostly a Gibson guy so a strat is not my main guitar, so in that case, it is nice having something different.

The rail pickups are 95% humbucker sounding so if you really want at least "close" singlecoil sounding you want to stick with the stacks. Yes you can wire the rail in parallel which gives more singlecoil sounds but still the stacks are way closer. And if yuo go with the more powerful stack you can get more potent sounds without going thin which sometimes happens with true singlecoils.

Only other concern I have is volume and EQ. I want to be able to seemlessly switch between my LP and Strat at a gig without having to adjust amp volume nor EQ. Typically I will leave EQ alone between guitars because I want my guitars to sound differently anyway, so I look for a compromise or common EQ, but volume equality is a must.

I think I am just not a fan of typical single coil sounds but I appreciate having a guitar that is different! I also prefer the look of an SSS Strat than an HSS strat. I can always switch to rail humbuckers or sell it and get a different guitar if it does not float my boat.

I have just always preferred big, beefy tones.
