I am not slammin you for your amp choice but am telling you that the vetta's do not ROAR like a all tube amp will :)
I like vetta's for bedroom jammin, they cannot be beat for that

Let's just say we agree to disagree becasue I have shared the stage with a Marshall JCM 800 and had no issues what so ever. I roared just fine. :) The sound guy came up to me and said I was right there with the JCM and in fact he had an easier time getting me to sit in the mix well.

I don't want to agrue but it isn't fair to say that they can't roar when they absolutely can without a doubt. It's just personal opinion.

You are right...they are only great for bedroom practice. That is why Michael Romeo sounded so good running through his Vetta the last time I saw Symphony X live. Oh, and also Travis of Tantric sounded great the last time I saw him live and he ran nothing but a Vetta.

I am not arguing, just stating my opinion.

Re: Duncan that ROARS!!??

I'm using Invaders, and the Vetta's tone KILLS in a live situation. Even when I was using the old 1.10 software, I consistently had a better live sound than the other guitarist in my old band, who was using a JMP-1 based rig AND a Dual Rectifier. So much so that he switched to a Vetta as well.

And papersoul is dead-on: for high gain sounds, Michael Romeo's live tone crushes anything out there. And all he used was a Vetta head through a single Mesa 4x12 cab.

the JB is the most versatile pup ever.. anything from power metal, 80's metal, hard rock, split for strat like tones and down to country lol

and it can ROAR under the right circumstances

lew.. you're old >.< LOL

I agree....the JB is Duncans best and is the most versatile IMO. Simply an amazing pickup.

However, I do think as far as roar goes...the Custom has it over the JB....it's just got a somewhat more raw sound to it IMO.

Re: Duncan that ROARS!!??

Hot Rails ROAR in my mind..... I'm not really sure what you are trying to figure out but the Hot Rails have a ton of output and scream for metal.

Re: Duncan that ROARS!!??

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Distortion yet. That thing has BALLS that ROAR!
