Well, I finally got off my butt yesterday and got reacquainted with my guitars, amps and pedals. I broke out the Duncan SFX-07 and much to my expectations, it sounds like a tube driven tremolo is supposed to sound. And it's QUIET. My biggest complaint with stomp boxes in general is the hiss and other unwanted noise. Not on this one. Lots of options to tweak to your hearts content. Good job Evan!!!

Have you tried making it sound like a helicopter yet?

Re: Duncan Tremolo Pedal (Shape Shifter SFX-07)

Scott, am I hearing you right? You mean there's no modulating hiss between notes or between songs if it's left engaged? That would be an absolute dream. My Fulltone is FAIRLY quiet compared to others I've used, but ........

Re: Duncan Tremolo Pedal (Shape Shifter SFX-07)

It's pretty darn quiet. I think what you can expect is that if there's nothing adding noise in front of the unit, it will not impart its own pulsating noise floor.

Of course with every tremolo pedal, if you're feeding it 60 cycle hum or post-distortion hiss, those sounds will come up and down.

But yes, a tremendous amount of R&D went into making this unit quiet and tonally transparent. I would not be surprised if you find the noise floor/pulsation to be an improvement over "other" boutique tremolo pedals.

Thanks, Frank ........ SOLD!

Tremolo is an effect that I use very sparingly, but when the right time comes nothing else will do!

Re: Duncan Tremolo Pedal (Shape Shifter SFX-07)

It's my number one complaint against most pedals. When I build an amp, I go to great pains to try and keep the noise down to nothing. Not always successful eliminating it 100%, but I'll work a long time trying to reach perfection (never attainable).

Then I put a pedal in front and it adds a HUGE amount of noise. Pedal goes away, gets sold or given away.

This is by far the most quiet duncan pedal I've had the pleasure to plug into.

Re: Duncan Tremolo Pedal (Shape Shifter SFX-07)

Yeah, I think my tremolo is definitely the recipient of noise added by other effects including a compressor that's looking for imperfections in my guitar shielding to amplify.

I'm not giving up my Tremodillo for anything!
