Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers with Les Paul & a Marshall

I had a couple minutes to record a clip, and here it is

2014 Gibson Trad- Duncan WLHs, 50s wiring.
Marshall DSL40C running through a EVH 2x12 (H30 & G12M EVH). Green Channel Crunch mode. 40watt mode. All tone controls at noon. Master at noon. Gain full up. Reverb I think is off-it may be on just a skosh..

Kicked on some carbon copy and heptode virtuoso

Re: Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers with Les Paul & a Marshall

That sounded great. Heptode sounds pretty wicked, I'll have to check those out.

Re: Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers with Les Paul & a Marshall

I really like the articulate top end that the WLH has.

Re: Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers with Les Paul & a Marshall

Thanks much for the listen folks! :) Once I get my speakers sorted out (soon ), I will eliminate some of that fizz on top. That EVH was wincing big time.

The Heptode Virtuoso is picky about guitars/pickups (hotter the signal the better, it seems) but yeah, it's fanfreakingtastic when everything is right.

Chain
LesPaul Trad/50s wiring/WLH> MXR chorus(off)>MXR Carbon Copy>Heptode Virtuoso> Green crunch mode of a DSL40C (vintage mullard in V1)> EVH 2x12 with a EVHG12M20 and G12H30 70th anniversary. Monster gold cables and cheap hosa 6" ers between the pedals

Gain full, Master @ noon (40watt mode). All tone controls at noon, resonance and presence at noon.

Oh..just stepped down for good to 9-42 strings last week..Dad XLs on this clip.

Recorded by a zoom q3 about 4 feet away on floor in center of cab.

What a huge sound!

Thanks for the listen.

Essentially a 50W Marshall, jacked up halfway, especially with a H30 speaker involved (LOUD!) is gonna sound big. But the clip doesn't really do it justice. It's shaking everything on one side of my house upstairs and knocking stuff off shelves in the garage below.

Awesome bro!! What settings you run on the carbon copy? I finally made the commitment on my board from the Boss DD5 (or 7) to the CC. But havent quite got the CC perfect...

I have (and LOVE) the WLH set in my trad pro

BTW.. When its rattling the house, thats when the fun begins!!

I *think*...Mix at 9 oclock, Regen and Delay time between 9 and 10 oclock. I like the Carbon Copy. Its a great Analog Delay, but I much prefer my Belle Epoch. Problem is, I slipped with a screwdriver while adjusting the BE's internal trim pot and effed it up :( I'm debating whether to replace it with another (its THAT good) or go with an Empress Tape Delay so I can have a couple pre-sets.

That's what She said :bigthumb:

Sounds really good to my ears. Nice, big tone. I would love to hear the Heptode and Maestro side by side. The Heptode seems to be less intrusive to the uneffected tone. And do you get any swirl bleed when the unit is off? That is one of the 'features' of the Maestro.

Sorry Ben...overlooked this....

First...Thanks for the listen.

Point, the second-The Heptode is True Bypass, so you dont get that swirl or midrange when its off. That said, the effect is so prominent, I often click it off and THINK I hear that underlying swirl for several seconds afterward. Neither of my other two phasers (Small stone/Whirlwind OrangeBox) leave me or have EVER left me with that sonic impression. It's quite strange.
