Duncans going into a Joe Pass

Hopefully this weekend I'll be dropping a jazz neck pup and a "JB" rear pup into my 2006 Joe Pass. They say it is a (and I quote) "Hot rodded set up". Lets hope so.

Re: Duncans going into a Joe Pass

Its a semi hollow Epi ya? I personally would put a moderate or vintage output in the bridge as opposed to a JB

But who knows, maybe it'll be sweet. It will feedback pretty hard even with light OD

Have fun!

In a fully hollow body, the JB could become unwieldy. Ideal for yo' Nuge cover versions. Also good for down tuning.

JB in a hollowbody? What's the thought process on this? JB's are great for '80's metal in a Super Strat. I'm thinking you're not playing that kind of music with it. Too hot for a hollowbody; it'll increase the feedback threshold. JB's are quirky PU's as it is, and can really bomb out in some guitars. What kind of music are you playing?

JB is a hollowbody?

The JB is a Seymour Duncan classic hot pickup. The JP is a hollowbody Jazz box. Look at that Rick - you learn something every day! :lmao:

What are you looking to get out of the new bridge pickup? I agree that "at stage volume" or in close amp proximity, you may have issues. But, the pickup offers a particular tone and EQ curve not otherwise available, and does have a certain "race car" feel to it. So it may really be the hot rod you are looking for. No reason that with juducoius placement and volume control that this pickup might not be exactly what you want.

But again - how are you going to use this?

Ironically, as a Gibson and Ibanez user, Joe Pass only used the pickup at the end of the fingerboard. His signature model Ibanez did not even have a Treble/bridge position pickup fitted.

When the Phat Staples came out I REALLY wanted to get a Joe Pass to put them in.
