Duncans like PRS 58/15 LT?

Looking for some info here: I have a PRS S2 Standard 24 (all mahogany US made) that I’ve never loved the sound of, but I love the look and feel of the guitar. The stock 85/15 S were too bright and high output, and I tried a Jazz/SD Custom that also didn’t hit the mark.

PRS just refreshed the range to have them come stock with the US PRS 58/15 LTs, and they sound great (in demos.) I’m considering trying to get the 58/15 LTs to put in my guitar, but they’re like $500. Some people on Reddit suggested the SD Seth Lover or Antiquities are pretty similar. Has anyone compared either to the 58/15 LTs?

Also, I’m seeing comments about “long legs” with the antiquities. Is that something I’d need to worry about? I’m not sure what depth the pickup rout has.

Lastly, the guitar has a push/pull tone pot by default. I’m guessing splitting a Lover/Antiquity wouldn’t sound great due to the output. Would it make sense/be possible to have that switch go from series to parallel for the pickups? Or would I do better to just treat it like a regular pot?

Thanks for any input, I’m not very experienced trying to match pickups to guitars.

You'd have to take the stock pickup out and measure the depth of the cavity to see if a 'long legs' pickup would fit- otherwise, you'd have to make sure whatever pickup you ordered could be ordered with short legs. You'd also need 4 conductor wiring, as you need the other wires to split. Antiquites and Seths split just fine, though. They are pretty bright, scooped pickups (Seths are a little more 'honky' in the upper mids). As far as comparing to other PRS pickups, other members might have more experience with that. It sounds like right now, you are looking for something a little warmer than what you have (and warmer than the Custom & Jazz).

The Alnico II Pro (APH-1) might also be worth a look. They come standard with 4-conductor wires and (I believe) short legs.
