Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

Another signature wah? I like wah pedals, but there are too damn many choices these days.

I need to invent a new pedal. One that makes your guitar say "whoops!" instead of "wah..."

Oh wait, that is the Kirk Hammet wah. Nevermind.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

i've been real excited about this being a big fan of Jerry's and have been talking to an acquaintance at Dunlop about it for about 5 or 6 months when i first got wind of it. anyway, the last update i got is that production on them is due to start in February as Jerry is still ironing out a few last minute details and needs to sign off on the finalized version.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

^ kinda thinking the same thing, while they're at it they should just make a custom wah shop, get your own custom wah from them.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

I don't see why Dunlop keeps releasing so many signature wahs when there'e the 535Q

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

guys, i own 18 wahs...all dunlop...and if any of you think they all sound similar or the 535Q can cover all the sounds i'm sorry to say you're tone deaf :nana: :chairfall

also, there are 3 versions of the 535 line (two of which can no longer be had new)...

-original 535 (no Q adjustment, full size components on the board, boost knob on bottom and range on side)
-first 535Q (18v powered, full size components on the board, with boost and Q knobs on the bottom and range on the side)
-newest 535Q (9V powered, surface mount components on the board, with side adjust boost, Q and range)

so which one are you talking about? i have all 3 of them and they sound a bit different from each other.

as for the CAE wah, IMO that's the current king of the wahs (all wahs) i've had loads of wahs from several brands boutique and large company and i'll take my CAE over pretty much everything (except my two custom wahs which, are the only 2 out there so you can't really count them anyway.)

the cantrell will be different, in quite a few areas.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

Glad to see Jerry's finally getting some respect in the gear department.

I love my 535Q but with all these signature variants I'm wondering if i shouldn't just pick one that encapsulates the 1 or 2 settings I leave it on and go with that and downsize on the buttons and switches in the process.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

I would have thought Dunlop has released enough Wahs by now.
"Searing tone"... sounds just like my Dunlop CFH.
TO be honest it seems to me these Wahs are just copies of the Rack Wah settings of the individual user with "little twists" - which hardly justify the huge price tags.
At least the Zakk one is affordable, but I really regret buying the Slash Wah.

The EVH Wah is the only wah from Dunlop with a different value pot. The only one!

Dang! It was between the current 535Q and the CAE, and I took the 535Q because it was in stock. I wish I would have met you first!

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

Oh yeah, at the risk of getting seriously flamed:

The sickest wah that I've heard is Kirk's wah sound of Load and Reload. I know that he gets a ton of sheeeit for his wah, but I have been chasing that sound for years. If I could figure out how to dial in my 535Q to sound just like that, or if I can find the "magic wah" that will get me there, I could finally rest. Something in my gut tells me that his current signature wah isn't going to get me what I am after. Perhaps my 535Q and a graphic EQ immediately after?

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

They should have made the knobbie control the amount of wet/dry mix.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

to be honest, everything sounded bad in that vid.

i've always thought Jerry had good wah tone so i have high hopes for this one.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

Even though the sound was bad in that video, I think I just found the wah I've been looking for. I love talk boxes but don't want to have to run two amps to use one and really don't like the Banshee. So, I've used my wah to make things work as best I can wishing that it sounded more like a talk box. This wah looks to be the answer to that wish. My wife heard it and said, "How much is it?". I could get some use out of it for sure. Can't wait to try one out.

Re: Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature wah

Yeah, that whole demo in general was pretty bad...

No proper micing, just capturing ambient sound from the amp, which sounded like it wasn't dialed in very well.

What annoyed me the most was that dude spitting out licks while the other guy was trying to talk. Rude.

That Little Dipper is cool as hell. The talk box settings are very passable. The price tag is a little steep for me. I'll just stick with aiming for the JC-95. ;)
