Dutch Oil?

Has anybody ever used Dutch oil or some oil like that to apply to a body before you laquered?

I've used Dutch oil before for furniture because it brings warm to the wood and grain but it also penetrates into the wood to harden and protect the wood.

Do you think this wood affect resonance at all or any other thing that i'm missing? I'm thinking about stripping the finish on my peavey and doing this.

Edit: Do to my error it is Danish oil and not Dutch oil. :smack: hope that clarifies

Is it anything like Tung Oil? I've never heard of it myself, but I'm not thinking that it would make a lot of difference to tonal qualities. Just my 2 cents.

Dutch Oil???? when giving your old lady a dutch oven, you fart and you feel a bit more come out than expected, is that dutch oil??

my error, it is danish oil, this finals week is killing my brain :smack:

and i'm planning just to clear coat it not paint it.

It doesn't matter if it's clear coat or paint oil is oil and paint is paint usually the two don't mix. I would check first or do a test to make sure the clear coat sticks.

I hear what your saying. But i'm just using laquering.

Also the oil dries after about three days then you can laquer over it. It says that in the directions and I've used it in this same way with furniture before.

Oil sucks anyway. Get some of Dave's Oily 'N Fat, it works wonders as guitar finish! :)
