I can't give you the numbers you want, but it reminds me of an in between of a 59B and a CC with an A5 magnet, but with more of the attributes of an A2 magnet...Chimey,but also thick, and round...Note articulation and great smooth sustaining tone with gain...Great pickup!

hey STRATDELUXER97-thanks for the input.i've been considering sending in my 59b to Derek in the custom shop to have it rewound to the brobucker specs.i've kinda been wanting a pickup something like "a parallel axis/patb-3 crossed with the thick mids of the jb,but still in the low-med output range"...sounds like a winner!!!

The BroBucker is perfect and MJ did a great job with it..Thanks to Scott F also for making it all happen for a bunch of us!

I played mine at a gig last week and it cut beautifully! It definitely has an *Angus* vibe to it was Gearjoneser has said. It has a nice tight bass, nice mids and treble. It is voiced closer to a '59 than an a2 bucker. I'm not good with numbers, but I hope that helps!

Without pulling numbers out of the air and using the 59B for a template I'm going to break it up into 5 EQ groups.

Treble----6
High Mids-7
True Mids-3
Low Mids--6
Bass------5

To my ears it's like the over winding pulled the extreme peaks in EQ in towards the mids a bit, but the mid mids, or true mids did seem to change a whole lot.

try emailing MJ at the Custom Shop with your request - see the contact info on the main page for the email address

she has the Bro specs written down

you'll probably have a choice of regular or trembucker spacing

Re: E.q Specs Of "brobucker" Pickup???

Stratdeluxer described it perfectly. I hear it as B7, M5, T8, and it's in between vintage and modern output. It's got a nice balanced tone, and to me, it does have an Angus Young type vibe to it. I like everything about it's tone, although I wonder how much they potted it. It sounds very lightly potted with the nickel cover. On extreme gain settings, I still can get some microphonic whistle, but that's when I'm almost trying to get it.

Re: E.q Specs Of "brobucker" Pickup???

It's definitely the most even sounding pickup I've ever used. The mids are there, not too thick. The highs aren't ice pick, nice and smooth. The lows are sufficient but not boomy. If I had to EQ it, it would be pretty close to being flat.

It kinda sounds like you guys are describing the Custom 5

Much less boomy and bright I think. I've got mine in a Heritage LP style, so with the EQ I put up it sounds pretty flat like Erik said. I feel like a LP style guitar is going to have more true mids to bass than highs and upper mids.

I will feel like a more reliable source when I get less lazy and pop off the cover and take a listen.

Like I said it seems to me that the overwinding brought in the extremities of the 59B or C5. Perhaps I should say it is more focused....
