Ear Candy BuzzBomb!

Well it's a rather long story but there was some trouble at the Ear Candy factory that caused many, many delays... after a long 5 month wait I finally got my cab :D, and WOW.

This one is all black smoooooth tolex with circle grills and two Ear Candy Sugarcones. I was going to go with Celestion V30's but i was told that the Sugarcones would sound even better. I spent about 15 minutes playing cleans with the EQ on 10/10/5 (low/mid/high) because I forget where, but I heard that it helps to break in the speakers that way.

The tone I hear with my Triple X through this thing is godly! It's my first tube amp and I couldn't be happier to own it. Everything's nice and smooth and crunchy, there's plenty of sustain and harmonics... it's very close to my ideal sound.

Just felt like I had to share that as it's been way too damn long since I ordered that cab... but I'm definitely happy now.

Alec, did you experience any problems when ordering yours? Everyone I know who's ordered one in the past 6 months or so has had horrendous wait periods, had a tough time getting a good response out of Tim once he had their money (before they paid, he was apparently great to them), and in MetalMan's case, left out the diamond plate grill.

Yeah, needless to say it was unbelievable that he could forget that. But I think I'm happy with just all tolex. The diamond plate might look too busy with the Triple X head sitting on top.

My cab was late (about 11 weeks from order to delivery) and Tim was not so good at offering status updates. He was pretty good about returning my emails and phone calls, though.

Though its acquisition wasn't without its frustrations, the cab was worth the money and the wait. Given the fact that I invested a fair bit of coin in options (it set me back about five bills without speakers), I think that speaks volumes about how I feel about the cab's tone and construction.

Metalman,

did you have any troubles with canadian duties / taxes?
Actually, much to my surprise and utter joy, I didn't have to pay a single cent on top of it for customs or tax. He sends via FedEx to Canada and still declares the value to be $500 USD... I didn't check if he marked it as a gift though, that might be why I didn't have to pay anything.

With NAFTA you shouldn't have to pay customs or duties on products made in North America.

Re: Ear Candy BuzzBomb!

Welcome to the club! My wait wasn't too bad, pretty much the amount of time quoted. There was a mixup between us on what I wanted and they actually took back the cab sent to me and shipped out the one I wanted, exactly as I wanted it. It really is my favorite cabinet now and I've sold off a few 4X12s since I got it. Can't say enough about that cabinet.

Re: Ear Candy BuzzBomb!

My transaction with Tim was great!(I've had mine for 2-3 years now). I love my Buzzbomb. We'll have to post Buzzbomb pics. I'll get mine up this afternoon.
