I might be the first person to say that I don't like the Cobalts.

Re: EB Cobalts

No, there's a big thread bashing them - on the EB forum :D

Lol. I just never heard anything that made me think they're worth $5 more than what I pay for the Dunlop strings.

Re: EB Cobalts

I really like them on the P90 EBMM Albert Lee and my old Kramer Pacer. To me they have a really clear, punchy tone to them.

Re: EB Cobalts

I love them on my Charvel so far but it's too early to tell if I'll stick with them.

Re: EB Cobalts

I didn't think they were worth the asking price and they didn't last me any longer than any other type of plain strings. They were bright and loud but I ended up having to screw with my eq to get it back to where it was, ergo, differences were minimized.

Back to Elixir Plated Plains.

Re: EB Cobalts

They are designed for Super Slinky users who would like more slinkiness from the wound strings... they aren't meant to be a game changer just a bit of an improvement on the Slinky design.

Re: EB Cobalts

I like them. I was using coated strings before hand- cleartones and elixirs that are similar in price, so for me the cobalts are a better string

Re: EB Cobalts

I really like them. The difference is subtle, but noticeable enough, for me to prefer them. However, when it's all said and done, I wouldn't be horribly upset, if I had to use the regular Super Slinky strings. They've been my mainstay, for over 20 years.

Re: EB Cobalts

I gotta try a set of them.

I have never used any Eb strings at all. I have always d' addarios but I think I am going to do some experimenting.

Re: EB Cobalts

I understand that they're brighter and clearer, but it wasn't such a vast improvement over nickel plated strings that I could justify the extra $5.00 on them. And with the way my car sucks down gas, $5.00 is a lot.

Re: EB Cobalts

I just tried them out. I like them but I didn't notice much of a difference. The feel is different, but it's not good enough to justify $10 when I can get 3 packs of regular slinkies for the same amount.

Re: EB Cobalts

I did not like the feel of them. They sounded nice but I just did like the way they felt under my fingers.
