This is what happens when 2 people have the same idea.....It almost happened to one of my auctions recently. Guy A decides to put a bid in of 3800....this insures him that no one will beat him (he asumes everyone else will bid "normal" amounts, or going rate, for the item) Then guy B decides the same thing, unaware of guy A's high proxy bid. Now someone is in deep ****!
Of course, guy B could just be intentionally tossing a high bid knowing he wont pay anyone...maybe the seller pissed him off at some point.
OR......Guy A is really the seller.....under a different name putting up a super high bid to get max money from his item....he may cancel at the last minute or just offer the second bidder a second chance after the auction is over...claiming "GUY A" didnt come through.
