ebay curiosity#1,200,345: Gibson WRC

Re: ebay curiosity#1,200,345: Gibson WRC

And didnt Grover help them design the US1s and such? Or am I thinking of something else?

Re: ebay curiosity#1,200,345: Gibson WRC

ooops sorry that is the fr version. Most came with a plate that the tremolo unit sat on.

that guitar is worth every penny imo. easily $500

I actually have a tremolo from a wrc in my parts box. Made by gotoh with string clamps.

Re: ebay curiosity#1,200,345: Gibson WRC

The trem in the ebay one is a Kahler Spyder. An able individual could turn that into a fine guitar.
Now, if you want to know what looks weirdest to me - it is the Gibson neck plate. Not a common sight.

Re: ebay curiosity#1,200,345: Gibson WRC

Owned 2 WRC's at one time along with a Showcase U2.
The WRC is cool and I really like the necks on these but both of mine were not stable and I had to adjust the necks a LOT.
Here is the Black WRC from 1989

Here I am playing the U2 in 1990

I remember those. They were pretty meh as I recall. Kind of like Gibson contracting out to get some Superstrat market. I believe they were a business fail.

I worked for a Gibson Showcase dealer back in 1988-89 and bought one of these.

Played and looked GREAT for a little while but came apart on the road.
Frets wore quickly and the finish was really a problem. With the the nitro the metallic silver was a disaster and within a year was turning green and 6 months later cracked like crazy.
out of the box it was killer too bad it wouldn't hold up on the road.
Sold it and bought a Carvin DC 200 in 1991 and never looked back.

Different animals.
The WRC's are really cool Guitars I owned a 87 in Black with the Goto trem and a 89 in white with the Kahler Spyder that was a showcase. Kind of wish I would have kept that Black WRC as it was a great player. The neck needed adjustment about 3 times a year but other than that it was a killer ax!!
I traded it even for the used Carvin but wish I had traded the U2 for the Carvin and kept the WRC.
That Carvin DC 200 however was ROCK solid and in the 20 years I owned it I might have adjusted the neck 5 times. Never went out of tune always sounded and played GREAT. It was solid Rock Maple in both neck and body with a flame top and ebony board and weighed a TON though so it eventually was sold.

Did you have the gotoh with the string clamps?

I'd take it if Lita came with it. I'd wear her old ass like a feedbag.
