eBay Gear Score - Duoverb HD

Been toying with the idea of grabbing one for a while. Scored a real nice looking one for $299 today, no other bids, love it when that happens. Should have it in a few days, reviews to follow.

line6 duoverb? That's pretty much what they go for now, I was going to buy one about a month ago but I never tried one. Let me know how it is when you get it, I"m really interested.

Re: eBay Gear Score - Duoverb HD

Thats the only problem with Line 6 gear. It's like computers, you pay a crapload for whatever is the best, and a few months later theres something else out thats better and your old purchase plummets in value.

However, that makes them great to pick up on the s/h market because they're decent gear :)

Never played a duoverb - wasn't that the one that was like a stripped down Vetta? Had the 2 amps at once feature but no effects except reverb?

I think that was like the best thing about it, the simplicity

Re: eBay Gear Score - Duoverb HD

The Duo looks like the perfect "working amp" out of most of the modelling amps out there. On the Flex ... outside of the Delay I don't use any effects anyway.

Personally I'd like to release another Duoverb (Duoverb II) which has some modern sounds as well (Bogner, Deizel, Engl, Marshall 900, Mk IIC, 5150 etc ... and yeah I know about the HD147 ... I just prefer way the Duoverb is setup and wattage) ... so that you've got the Vintage Duoverb and a modern Duoverb, both in the 100w range (instead of the HD147's 300w)

I haven't tried the new Line 6 stuff but I hope they've managed to improve the Bassman model from the old Flextone II's

Re: eBay Gear Score - Duoverb HD

The simplicity was definitely a big appeal. Not much about it I don't like. My biggest concern is live applications, I'll need to power a 4x12 and occassionally a second. 100wt should be fine for that.

Nice thing is it only weighs 30lbs so for travel it is great. No 70lb heads going through airports thank you! I found a local shop that makes cases specifically for them which is very cool.

I am not looking for the cutting edge, I thought about the HD and the Vetta but they were overkill for me. I might get a PodXT and a power amp at some point but this will do fine for now hopefully.

We've got our first show back on 6/4 in Clearwater so I'll know soon enough.

Re: eBay Gear Score - Duoverb HD

Not only that but when I look at the Vetta interface, I feel like I'm in a Sci-Fi set ...

With the Flex I just punch into Manual mode and fiddle with the knobs ... no pushing buttons there

Re: eBay Gear Score - Duoverb HD

I was interested in a FlexIII HD but I guess they don't make the head in that line anymore.

I have seen those and have been very curious. Have you posted a review on it by any chance?
