ECHO, ECHo, ECho, Echo, echo...

^^ I guess of all the times we have jammed I just don't associate you with using any delay.

Well, I rarely bring a full on pedal board with me to small jams and such, I usaly just end up bringing a a guitar, amp and a dirt box of some sort...

But you're right...I am not a big dealy user...YET!!

That brings up a good point. We A/B the Echoplex and my DL-4. We both agreed that they sounded different from each other, but not different in a good OR bad way. To be honest, to my ear the DL-4 was stupidly similar!! There was a little extra warmth to the Echoplex and some noise that the DL-4 didn't have. The DL-4 couldn't quite match the natural flutter and "feedback" sound as well.

My general take was a serious hats off to Line 6 for doing a great job with the Echoplex model, but come on man it's an original Echoplex. The Line 6 can't muster up that coolness no matter what. If I were a touring musician I would carry a DL-4 to preserve the EP-3 and use the EP-3 at home and studio.

The EP-3 is super cool still!!!

Re: ECHO, ECHo, ECho, Echo, echo...

I did think that the DL-4 did a respectable job getting most of the tone of the Plex but just like all the L6 stuff, it's close but not exact...however the L6 is FAR more versitile than the Plex, but I wasn't looking for a million delay sounds I was looking for one...and I found it!

More-Gear-Than-Skill: Thanks for noticeing my chest of drawers...I actually have all the handles but their so old and the threads are stripped out, I've been trying to find something that was close but it looks like Im gonna end up tapping the threds out to a bigger thread pattern and getting new screws!

Re: ECHO, ECHo, ECho, Echo, echo...

You still have the flipping of that stuck in your head? I can't listen to a certain Kiss tune without still hearing the album scratch in my head. It's almost nostalgic -- in a good way.

Re: ECHO, ECHo, ECho, Echo, echo...

I honestly don't remember where the flips were in Abbey Road- that was one of my 8 tracks...

However, it was either my vinyl copy or a cassette dub of Ratt's Out Of The Cellar that had a skip in the solo in "Round And Round." I can't hear the beginning of the solo without expecting to hear that skip...

Re: ECHO, ECHo, ECho, Echo, echo...

dude that is so cool, you have to call me and play something cause I doubt i will be in Atlanta anytime soon.

Whats wrong with Tom???

By the way, I have to admit...there is something just kind of wrong with plugging something as new and modern (and digital) as a Whammy Pedal into something as old school as a tape Echoplex...but I did!
