Echolution VS Superdelay VS Timefactor ???

Has anyone used all three of these pedals? I’m looking for opinions on the sound of these units, as I’m already well aware of the difference in features.

I’ll be selling my Nova Delay to fund this, which I’m not looking forward to because I love it, but it doesn’t do a decent tape simulation, it doesn’t oscillate too well, and the rhythmic options are a little limited. It does, however, sound magnificent - so its replacement needs to sound every bit as good if not better.

I’ve already got an SMMH which I can use for normal delays, reverb, looping (and a whole lot more), so whichever of these pedals I choose will be mostly for rhyhmic stuff and a tape echo simulation with decent oscillation (not self oscillation).

Of the three, I know the Timefactor is probably the most feature laden, but something about it just doesn’t draw me to it. Can’t put my finger on what, it just doesn’t - though I’ve read the spec sheet and I'm fairly sure my opinion would change if I was to play through one.

The Echolution is the one that entices me most, though I know the Superdelay has a ton more features. I can’t quite describe why the Echolution interests me most of the three, as it has the least features and the highest price tag.

So for some reason my gut is telling me to buy the Echolution, though I’m totally prepared to re-evalute my gut feeling, as it’s a LOT of cash to drop on one pedal.

So.... opinions please? Features aside, does any of them stand out proud as sounding miles better than the other 2?

The TimeFactor is the only one I'm familiar with; it's astounding. I definitely want to get one. If you are using any kind of MIDI control, it's a real boon due to its flexibility. Sonically, it's great.

Re: Echolution VS Superdelay VS Timefactor ???

No, I hate MIDI and would never use it on a guitar setup again unless it was to sync up a drum machine to a looper, and the Timefactor's looper isn't good enough for me to consider that.

I want to play them all side by side, but the shops near me that sell these things only sell 1 or 2 of the 3, so whilst I can fairly easily get to shops to try them all out, I can't have them all hooked up side by side to compare.

Let's throw a 4th pedal in the mix - Damage Control Timeline.

Huh, I've never been the biggest fan of MIDI either, but now I am using MIDI with two Lehle D.Loop SGoS units, and it works/sounds great.

Sorry, I know this is the SD forum and all, but that thing looks utterly rubbish. It'd be a total downgrade for me.

Why did SD design their pedals to look like someone DIY'd a circuit into a re-painted Marshall footswitch?

heh heh heh Dude, nobodys heard that thing yet... how can you say its a downgrade when we don't even know what it does? Aside from some bullets in a super-produced 1 minute video?

Frank, whuz the scoop man?!

I've messed around with the Timefactor a little & the Echolution a good deal... never used that Nova delay but I've used lots of other TC stuff, the rack gear & its all pretty solid.

The Echolution is a great pedal... and it can do a whole bunch of tricks if you hang the expression pedals & extra footswitches off it. It's not programmable... but it IS pretty deep with the tap switches, great if your into rhythmic delays and the reverse is great too. So is the modulation section, thats real deep & can do anything from a slight warble to leslie rotor spin. It's built real solid & so is the Timefactor... that has a whole other vibe. Sounds good as well... both are pretty clean.

But if its solely for tone you gotta try 'em yerself.

THe Echolution sounds real good to me but whos to say if it'll do a decent enough analog echo for YOU. For tone & simplicity I like the Carl Martin Delayla XL... I just can't fit something that big onto my board so I keep using the same ancient ibanez stompbox I've had for at least 15 years... haha

Eh, one man's trash is another's treasure.:laugh2: It's a functional and rugged shape. Good luck in your search.
