Im really looking hard at buying one of these small hybrid amps.....I was wondering if some of ya'll that have had some experience, owned, used, etc. could give me some advice into how these things work...Im reading some VERY good reviews on them.

I like the MicroDark even better. More gain and an effects loop as I recall.

They are fun.

You'll need a decent 1x12" or 2x12" cab though.

As Demanic said, the MicroDark is the one to get. I prefer the voicing and using the FX loop 'return' you can use it as a super portable power amp and re-voice it with preamps like AMT P2 or Tech21 FlyRig. This way you can have a super flexible mini rig that has some real teeth.

I was looking at getting a bugera 1X12 speaker and mic'ing it at the church I play at. I don't use effect loops at all since ALL my pedals are on my board and run into the input of the amp. I like the AUX in where I can practice silently at home with my pedals after everyone goes to sleep. I'm wondering does it respond in the same way a full tube amp does to the volume knob roll off.

+1 for the Dark.

Even if you do not have an immediate need for the extra gain and the send/return loop, they are useful features to have. Modulation and time effects are better added to the signal chain after the pre-amplifier stage of the Terror.

If you want clean, the Dual Terror has more headroom.

Money no object, get the hand-wired version.

Anderton's did a comparison video review of the entire Terror range. Check that out.

Re: Educate me on the Orange Micro Terror please....

Alot of people like the Micro Terror, with one caveat- it NEEDS to be played with a 12" speaker, not the tiny 8" they offer for it. Better yet if you can run it through a 4x12.

For everyone that likes the Micro Dark, there are just as many people that like the Micro Dark even better than the Micro Terror due to the increased gain and effects loop. I've heard of some even trading in their Mesa Dual Rec's in favor of the Micro Dark for home use

I have the micro dark, I love mine! Definitely needs at least a 1x12 like others have said though. Cool head for the price

Re: Educate me on the Orange Micro Terror please....

I had the standard micro. I never had the gain past 11 oclock even with a jan 5751 in Iit (which was a huge improvement). I found the mp3 input too finnicky for practical use...but it was great for hooking up an mp3 player to break in speakers.

They are fun amps, but yeah...needs a "real" speaker/cab.

I havent played the micro dark. I wouldnt need the loop, but its my understanding the headphone out is cab sim, which is a plus. Ive yet to hear a decent 70s rock sound out of one... It seems gainier than the standard micro terror. Id like to try one to see for myself.

How did that Micro Terror do with pedals when you had it?
