Effect Pedals Battery(silent) Vs Power Supply(humming).

Guys I have moved from all digital technology(Multi-Defects) and went to an ENGL fireball full tube amp head, and now it is time for some pedals, I have chosen the ISP Decimator as a noise gate(dont need the g-string version as the Amp has a built in gate already so i will use it in front of the amp to be completely silent) for a boost pedal tube screamer type I have chosen the Way Huge green rhino(it does not cut bass as all tube screamers even made by maxon or Ibanez) as it has a 100hz knob to adjust the bass freq.

For the delay i did like the digitech digidelay, really sound good for what i need, but the problem is , i had an issue with a digitech grunge before , when i used a battery , it was really low noise( normal high gain noise) but when i used an adapter with it, it has some kind of electrical back ground hum, with the normal high gain noise of the pedal, I am afraid of the digiidelay to have the same problem, batteries will not last so long, should i get a special Hum free power supplies like the Danelectro zero hum adapter( does this one really eliminates this back ground electrical hum like that of standard adapters, or what should i get? in a digidelay review, when the guy kicked the pedal i heard the same hum of the grunge i had, so it is a matter of a power supply i know, also there is the Voodoo pedal power , does it solve that problem too.

recommendation guys,

I am still looking for a reverb pedal, did not like any of digitech or boss, old Lexicon is the best- is there any pedals produced by lexicon before they were sold to digitech?

What about the Lexicon new production under harmen Digitech Co. the MX-200,300,400, are they good as the pre digitech models , and will they give me better effects than the single pedals I have chosen?for reverbs they are the best I think.

for the chorus i chosed the Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-5 , any better pedals for chorus?

thanks guys.

waiting for the tonal freak guys responses \m/

Re: Effect Pedals Battery(silent) Vs Power Supply(humming).

Almost every older type of DOD and Digitech pedal I've had in the past made noise on wall power. Even with their adapters. I never bothered to figure out why. Although I don't have first hand experience, I wouldn't expect a Hardwire to do so.

Dunno, dude. One thing you can do is make a giant 9V battery pack out of "C" or "D" batteries, and plug it into the DC input jack on the DigiTech pedal. That should give you the quiet performance of a 9V but with much longer life. You can do it with like $10 worth of Radio Shack parts. (If they have Radio Shacks in Egypt, I guess.)

thanks , yes we have radio shack here, i will try your recommendation and see how it will work . thanks again.

Are you using a single power supply like a Boss or 1Spot alogn with a daisy chain? If so, I've experienced noise problems too. 1 Digital effect can cause noise throught the entire chain.

I added a VooDoo Labs power supply and a T Rex Fuel Tank Jr. and that eliminated all the noise and hum.

Re: Effect Pedals Battery(silent) Vs Power Supply(humming).

I often use more than 5 effects pedals "daisy-chained" to each other. I have had no problems with noise.

I recommend Furman products, they are designed to filter out this kind of noise.

I also believe that this product would work well for you:voodoo labs pedal power ISO

Re: Effect Pedals Battery(silent) Vs Power Supply(humming).

ENGL fireball full tube amp head
Voodoo pedal power
Way Huge green rhino

ISP Decimator as a noise gate
Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-5

digitech digidelay
Danelectro zero hum adapter

The list at the top is all really great gear.
The couple in the middle are pretty good.
The stuff at the bottom not so good.
I reckon you should make sure all of the gear you use is top quality like your amp.
ce5s are famous, but they do load up your signal when off....i reckon you can do better in this modern day and age.
Check out the stuff from TC electronic for delays and modualtion. The Hardwire stuff is good too.
If you have good pedals all running off a good power supply at the correct voltages, you may not need your ISP also - the less you have between your guitar and amp, the livelier your tone will be. However, one good quality buffer in your chain can improve the sound over a chain pedals - even if they are true bypass and running on correct voltages etc.
At the risk of sounding like a fanboi, the SD deja vu delay has a choice of true bypass and buffered out...using this buffer at the end of the chain is a noticeable improvement.

Bro what do you think about Lexicon MX series rack effects, are they good? like the mX-200? do you recommend it?

I had the same problem and now I am not interested in using any DOD / Digitech products…

But I do use a lot of Seymour Duncan pedal without any problem at all!

You have to define "noise" IMHO most of the noise you hear can't be heard once the drums kick in. that typed I use a HumX on both of my amps. I use a simple setup that is somewhat complicated. Chorus, delay OD, Wah, tuner but I have this in two amps coming together to an A/B/Y box. This allows me to switch between them and setup what I want in each amp. It was a bit noisey, but the HumX eliminated 85% of the hiss/noise I was getting.

sorry. Im not up with the current rack gear I have not used rack gear on my guitar since the early 90s. I cant help at all on that subject.

Are you thinking of running the rhino out front and then all the delays and modulations etc in the loop? Thatd be cool, only one pedal between your guitar and preamp. I think the best approach would be to find a way to try one of those lexicon (or tc or digitech) things thru the loop of your amp and see if you are happy with how they work together. I know the digital stuff has improved a lot since i last used it.

Yes exactly, I may add isp decimator in front with the green rhino to eliminate any noise from the rhino itself, and the rest in the loop.

I would stick with pedals as i am really so disappointed with any digital product i have ever used before.

Analogue is the way for good tone, no more digital stuff in my list, now i am looking for the t-rex delay, i think it will be better than the digitech delay(i hate digitech, they should have be called digital and not digitech.

cheers :)
