Effects for JVM 410h?

Hi my fellow players,

I've been playing my JVM for some time now, guitar is a ESP Gus G with two SH6. Currently I'm not using a single pedal and I was always wondering what is a good choice... I don't have a clue, what the good ones are, so I thought I'd ask you guys and gals for suggestions. I'm looking for a tight heavy distortion sound. Maybe to start with a noise gate? Any suggestions are welcome... [emoji4]

Keep on rockin',

Wait... You cant get a tight heavy distortion out of a JVM 410? I would suggest spending more time trying to dial it in but if that doesnt work just add a maxon OD9 or OD808 in front of it as a boost and all the tight distortion you could want will be yours. For a noise gate i highly reccomend a ISP Technologies Decimator G String. Another option is the Boss NS2 which also works decently but can color the tone a bit.

Re: Effects for JVM 410h?

The JVM should get all the heavy sounds you want.
No offense intended, but unless you are looking for something extremely specific (and I don't think you are),
you're probably doing something wrong with your rig.

I run a TC Electronic G Major through mine in the effects loop. I use the noise gate, delay, and modulatuion effects.

The JVM should be capable of getting a good tight and heavy sound on it's own.

If you're looking to tweak the tone a little bit, a good graphic eq in the effects loop should help you alter things to taste.

I eventually want a G System for my JVM, but I will probably run them with the Four Cable Method. Right now I'm running my Boss VF-1 with the JVM. It's good for modulation and delay effects, but the others leave something to be desired.

And, OP, the JVM is already a tight sounding amp. Maybe you have too much bass dialed in or have pickups with a big loose bottom end?

Run all your time based effects through the effects loop and the tone shaping ODs and stuff like that in front of the amp. ISP is by far the best noise gate out there.

you do not need any pedals with a jvm410h to get a tight heavy distortion sound. I recorded this without even trying to get my own personal sound. this is with the bass, mid, treble, and preamp gain all on 7. I think I had the master volume at around 4 or 5. it does not take much to get a great sound out of that amp. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11737219
