Effects loop

Hey peeps!I have an Egnater tourmaster 2x12 combo. Effects loop send and return have individual level controls. Im running the effects loop at about 75% on both send and return. When I shut the loop off the volume drops. Should I be running the loop that hot or adjust the levels so volume is seamless? And does it hurt the amp?

Re: Effects loop

No it doesn't hurt the amp, but apparently you have it set so it is working as a boost (which can be useful in the right situations). As far as setting the level so it is the same with the loop on or off, try 50% on both level controls, but it's a personal preference about how hot you want to run it, at least until it's too hot for your effects and they start distorting.

Re: Effects loop

No, most likely not. If it is too hot you'll get some ugly clipping/distortion (as opposed to good distortion), but I doubt it can get hot enough to hurt them.

Re: Effects loop

Might make some analog effects sound ugly. My Tweaker's FX loop is pretty hot and my Memory Toy sounds really dark there unless I do some fine trickery, which I do.
