Re: Egnater's new products - NAMM 2013/2014
The Vengeance can be heavy as you want, but it doesn't really do that big dry chunk like a Uberschall or VHT. The Vengeance has more sustain and liquidity in it's gain....more like a Soldano, XTC, Jubilee. It's thick and dense and fully saturated......and you can even dial it in for a huge Sabbath doom tone. What it's best at is the shred tone like Satriani, Timmons, Gilbert. The clean channel goes between a crystal clean Twin to a Dumble. The Egnater Armageddon added another channel, maybe voiced a bit more metallic, and features a noise gate, which I never want or need.
I'm not sure if Guitar Center is phasing out Egnater altogether, or just moving away from China production, and moving it all to Huntington Park/Los Angeles. Watch GC for deals on Egnater though. I'm pretty sure GC pays very little for Chinese Egnater amps, so they have the ability to sell them cheap. That's what happened with me. I bought mine below dealer cost...less than the price of a Tweaker 15 (long story). $600 - $850 seems right for Craigslist.
Joe, that Vengeance looks like an Uberschall. Any resemblance in tone? I'm not too familiar with Diezels since I've never played one, but much more acquainted with Bogners. Also, any thoughts on the Armageddon?
P.S. So what does a good deal look like on these? I keep seeing one on Craigslist, but have no idea the used value.
