who here has tried an el diablo pickup? is it cool? also who here has tried the seymour duncan iommi pickup? and how do they compare to a dimebucker considering they are all blade, high gain pickups

Re: EL diablo!

Damn you, thought you were going to talk about the genz benz el diablo amp, haha oh well. Guess that doesnt make sense for the pickup forum anyway

I have a SD Iommi pu but not in anything at the moment. it is and awsome pickup, better than the dimebucker. the iommi's blades are bigger if that makes a diff.

What styles do you play and what equipment do you use? that help people suggest things also.

Re: EL diablo!

The blade poles in the Iommi pickup are actual magnets, unlike the ones in the Dimebucker which are just nonmagnetic steel blade poles.

Re: EL diablo!

I play all kinds of metal and have a les paul, an sg, and G&L legacy not relevant for humbuckers. Hmmm interesting about the iommi...any info on dynamics or how it sounds, EQ, pinch harmonics etc... also el diablo...anyone? anyone?...... Bueller?

it is the best pickup on earth, period. It's like an EMG 81 but more raw, with more 'funness', life and other good things...like a magical fairy came down and gave you the best thing you've ever gotten.

At least my take from playing a Kevin Bond rhoads for like 20 minutes through a dual rectifier right after using my V-250.

Re: EL diablo!

okay so i gather the el daiblo and iommi are the same pickup...is this correct...someone said the iommi model is louder than scott ians...hmmm
also whats the purpose of magnetized blades to non magnetized blades like on the dime bucker....is it cheaper or is it for dymamics purposes?

Re: EL diablo!

i dont know if the dimebucker's blades are cosmetic, but... i do know its sick.

DEJ has recomended El Diablo to everyone asking for a hot pup, if i were you, id take notice.

try to find a soundclip, although...

*waynes world sound effects*

there i was, at the hard rock cafe. i knew someone that worked there.

it was a holiday here, and the staff asked him to come in, and do some i dont know, inventory stuff.

i tagged along... lol.

i found out the bastard has certain guitars that he actually PLAYS (from the cafe).

i also found out that not all hard rock cafe guitars are authentic. (true)

anyway
he had his rig in his truck

long story short, in no time i was sitting on the floor, at the hard rock cafe, with a "scott ian washburn".

and, el diablo.

i think, idk.

it was a blade pup, but it didnt say SD anywhere.

the tone was amazing, the guitar was horrible. lol.

thats what happens when you set a guitar down for years and let it gather dust and smoke. lol.

by the way, they caught him a month or so later, and fired him lol.

Re: EL diablo!

the dimebucker blades have basically taken the place of the round screw style pole pieces found on other pickups. The iommi (and by the looks of it, the el diablo, if theyre the same pu) have the magnets directly exposed on top, in place of pole pieces or blades.

Havent tried the washburn but the kevin bond sig has the iommi, dont know if youre able to compare them at a store where you live? But Id suggest either if you dont plan on going active.

Re: EL diablo!

thats an awesome story astrozombie, man good times! ya the eldiablo soesnt say seymour duncan on it...still wondering what are the benifits of the el diablo magnets being completely exposed. Maybe direct tranfser from string to magnet?
