I just recently made a trade for a PRS DGT that the previous owner had replaced with Electric City Hallowed Ground Pickups. I did a little bit of research into them and the reviews overwhelmingly seem great, but I’m not quite jiving with them yet.
The story is that of a complete replica of a PAF set from a 1958 Les Paul (which as we all know could be great or bad depending on the actual pickup, since they varied in the 50’s - 60’s), and have the following specs:
Neck - 8.25k - A3 magnet
Bridge- 7.7k - A2 magnet
I know that DCR isn’t a good indicator of true output, since there are multiple other factors, and the set does sound balanced when plugged in.
The strange thing is that they are really quite expensive ($495 for the pair), which I have a hard time believing in that much proposed value.
Anyway, I’m considering a swap to something that has a little more output in the bridge (guitar traded had a Custom/59 in bridge) and something more jangly in the neck (had a Phat Cat A3/A5). But wanted to get some opinions or thoughts before I made the jump so quickly.
Here’s the picture of the guitar for reference [emoji7]
Thanks!
