What is it about the bridge that actually makes them sound like this? Its really bugging me. I just want to know how it works!

I haven't ever looked at the aftermarket guitar/sitar bridges but have seen a real sitar bridge. There's a long, almost flat surface just under the string at the bridge and it simply makes the string buzz. Sitar players put a little bit of thread between the string and the surface and adjust the buzz by moving the thread. Hope that helps.
