Re: EMG 60 as a bridge pickup.
Yes. When I bought my LTD EC401w, I knew that I was going to swap out the EMGs to SD Live Wire Classic IIs but, in the interests of objectivity and "fairness", I decided to try every Quik Connect active humbucker at my disposal in every possible position of two guitars with the necessary wiring loom.
Cutting to the chase, on the LTD, the EMG-60 in the bridge position sounded feeble. Less guts than an S/SA single coil would have done. (
One of the other comparison pickups was an EMG-H.)
In an Ibanez RG321MH, the EMG-60 in the bridge position sounded feeble.
The EMG-H is an EMG-S built into a humbucker-sized cover. IMO, this sounded more acceptable in the bridge position than the -60. The -H did at least bring a certain amount of "Fender" liveliness.
Additionally, a guitarist in my area briefly owned a Gibson Spotlight series SG Custom. This guitar featured three EMG-60s. IMO, it sounded like a sick Stratocaster. That guy sold the SG Spotlight fairly swiftly.
