EMG 89 buzzing when volume is turned off

I've just installed this pickup in a guitar with a coil tap using a push pull but I can't get over how much noise its making when I turn the volume down.

Basically, when I have the volume knob at zero, it makes a ground type buzz unless I touch something metal on the guitar (minus the bridge, no bridge ground)

It doesn't make the buzz go away entirely when I touch it, but it certainly kills a lot of it.

When the volume is up on 10, its not there, either its masked or something.

Any Idea what could be causing this?

I have a solid ground from pickup braid to volume pot to tone pot to input jack. No lack of ground there.

Nevermind, I wired it up using the Blackout schematic and it works perfectly.

EMG wiring diagrams suck.

My understanding is this:

Its the difference between how you wire to the volume pot, going from the center lug to the input jack, to the outside lug to the input jack. I think this is a vintage vs. modern style of wiring pots?

As well as the tone pot, its connected slightly different. I'm not sure what the difference makes, but perhaps someone else would know!
