EMG Installation

OK, I was just wondering; do the "quik-connect" thingies that EMG's have make them any easier than normal pickups to install? Or is it just a marketing gimmic? Is there still alot of soldering and such involved?

depends, i believe the quik connect is just so you can rapidly change between neck and brodge pickups (switch em) but i may be wrong. They arent easy to wire anyways lol.

I find EMG's to be easier to wire than most pickups, because of the single conductor and no grounding thing. The quick connect is great for swapping pickups out, and if you have a guitar wired up and want to try the emg's in another, you just unclip it and slide the cable through the route, and slide it back in the other guitar, less soldering.

I second DeadSkinSlayer in that EMGs are easy to install. The quick connect clip isn't supposed to have anything to do with ease of installation, just trading pickups. It makes that a WHOLE lot easier. I wish Duncan would jump on the quick connect bandwagon.

My EMG's are being installed right into my trash can this weekend! My ESP came with a set of 81's, I can't stand them!!!! Can't wait to get my Jazz and Custom in there, ah what a relief that will be to my ears

:laugh2: but using the quick connect system would mean you could easily drop an 85 and a 60a in there, and itd sound better as far as EMGs go...

actually, scrap that. jazz/custom? nice choice :laugh2:
