EMG or SD

Hi Folks!

Has anyone any experience what's the difference in sound between an EMG81/85 combination and SD Livewire Metal/Classic? Are they quite similar or is there a lot of difference? Are the Duncans even meaner? Are two 9V blocks enough for the two duncans?

Tonally, they are two completely different animals. You'll find people saying one sounds much better than the other, but a lot of it is just preference. Personally, I've never tried the EMGs so I can't make a fair comparison. The LWMs will overdrive your amp more - it's almost impossible to play clean.

If I understood your last question correctly, yes. You need space for two 9V to run the Live Wires.

It´s like comparing a Giraffe to a Lion... they´re both a similar color, and they both walk on the land and are mammals, but otherwise there are practically no similarities

bBTW: 2x9v is not "enough" for the duncans, but "necessary" is more the fitting word...
