EMG's HZ H4

Does the HZ H4 pickup really sound like the 81 as EMG claims?What about the H3?Would these pickups be good for my playing style?I play metal,classic rock and some clean.I also have a digitech rp80 effects pedal.THANKS!!!

the H4 does sound similar to an 81, but it's not an 81 (obviously)... No passive pickups is gonna sound exactly like an 81.

don't even think of getting EMG HZs. They cost the same as a duncan or dimarzio but sound weak,lifeless and super compressed in comparison. If you want the EMGs then go with the real active ones and be done with it.

When I was comparing the ESP VB400 and VB200 I thought the VB200 with the H4s actually sounded better, which was weird.

I dunno, they sound pretty good but I love my 81 in my V so...I'd get the actives unless you want coil-splitting which you can do with the HZs.
