That's the kind of thing I would do. Probably an 85 bridge/60A neck combo. I find EMG's to be flat, clean and tight with no honks or howls- just the perfect compliment to the warmth of a semi-hollow. They're high output, sure, but that just means better S/N ratio and a lower gain setting on the amp. Oh, yeah, and the volume controls work right all the way down to 1....
