Right now I have a Marshall cab with G12T75 and appreciate the flutey sound for lead ( witch comes with good bass and treebles and roll off mids ) , but for heavy and speed rythm it lack a bit of crunch ( lack of mids) .
I tried the V30 and don't like it cery much cause very middy , is the Eminence Governor is the same one trick pony like V30 or is it more versatile ?

The governor is supposed to be like a v30, but I have heard the highs are a bit smoother on them. I would look into others speakers if you don't like the mids on those.

Re: Eminence Governor vs Celestion V30 and G12T75

governors are basically v30's without the high mid spike, but they are still very middy

you could always try running like an X pattern of governors & g12t75's

Re: Eminence Governor vs Celestion V30 and G12T75

an X pattern is a good idea but G12T75 have 97dB sensitivity compare to 102dB for Governors , they'll be much louder .
I don't understand that people say Governors are less spicky than V30 ; on EQ curve Governors seams to have more in all register from lows to treebles !
Could somebody give a test of Governors vs V30 ?

This sounds like a speaker voiced like the G12-65 is what you want.

If you like scooped tone (and nothing else) stay with G12T75's..

im not sure those the sensitivity ratings are really comparable. i have a red fang which at 103 dB should be way louder than a greenback at 97 dB. its louder but not as much as the difference would seem to indicate. the v30 is rated at 100 db which i bet the gov would be too using celestions methods

If this is what you're looking for try the Emi Tonespotter. Great speaker.

I got a govoner think very very british tone. Pretty crunchy (with the right amp), tight bass, smooth highs and mids are very present.

The Celestion Classic Lead seamed to me like a good compromise between Vintage 30 and G12T75 so I just ordered 4 for the bargain price of 314 Euros = 400 USD
one thing is worrying me tho : are they made in CHINA ? :yell:
