I found that I must set the amp very differently with this speaker and I am starting to like it a lot!
I used to set the amp
Bass 12 oclock
Mids 2 oclock
Treble 10 oclock
These settings worked best with both the stock speaker and the GB12.
With the Governor the best setting I found so far are:
Bass 12 oclock
Mids 12 oclock
Treble 11 oclock
The mids are HUGE in this speaker and the high end is attenuated enough by design.
I expect to like it even more as it breaks in.
The GB12 compared to the Governor is much more open sounding with much higher highs and a bit bigger lows.
This is funny because I would have never guessed that by reading their descriptions and specs on the Eminence website.
The Governor is much more compressed and focused and mid heavy.
I am just starting to discover how much of a difference the speaker can make and I can't believe it.
Much more significant than changing pickups or maybe even guitar on some occasions!
People should really explore their options with speakers before considering to sell their amp for another!
