I al gonna have a pair of 1x12 and need to choose speakers. Not sure yet if I want mixed speakers or both with versátiles speakers.

So I calles the Eminence distributor here un Mexico looking for patriot series above 75 watt and he only has red white blues and Texas heat un stock. Coul you please ley me know which of these two is best for me?

I will get an amt ss-20, that has some nice cleans kind of fendery and a wide range of crunch/lead up to high gain. I want the clean tone to be kind of Eric Jhonson, with my all single coil strat and then engaging my fulltone plimsoul. Which of those you think is better for what I want?

This link is a good example of the plimsoul thru a fender amp clean channel and would like to get closer to that.

Plimsoul Fulltone distortion pedal and Fender sup…: http://youtu.be/-K1ihjwKdvQ

Thanks un advance

The texas heat is pretty darn good. They are best suited to high powered amps. I have a pair in my twin reverb and they are superb in that application because they are not particularly efficient, so you can crank the amp a little harder for your stage volume and get a sweet tone. They are balanced tonally with an emphasis on thick mids and a forgiving top end. In a lower wattage (22 watt) fender they are still nice and warm, but they tend to damp the output down too much. I reckon they sound best with at least 30 watts pushing those big voice coils. I've also got one in a 2x12 pair in an open backed cab being used with a marshall jtm style amp in a pair with a private jack. Its cool there too cos it thickens up the low end and complements the brighter. looser greenback style private jack.
So yeah - for fender style amps the texas heat will give you nice thick warm cleans, but its smooth top end and thick mids will give you a really fat singing tone for high gain. It's not a modern voiced speaker by any means. Definitely in the vintage camp, but what it does, it does without any flab or breaking any kind of a sweat.
I dont know if you are planning on using a solid state amp or not, but i reckon it would be a good speaker for adding warmth and smoothness.

The RWB i have to admit i have not tried, but it believe its voiced similarly to vintage jensen c12ns. If that is the case, then i reckon it would sound best for sparkling cleans, twang and sizzle, but probably not as sweet or fat as the texas heat for high gain.

Anyone out there ever tried the Red White and Blues? How good/bad is it for overdrive or distortion?

Re: Eminence Red White Blues or Texas Heat

I would get one of each, they compliment each other very well.
You should not have any problem over-driveing either one of those speakers.
They are both very nice sounding speakers for guitar.
good luck

Thanks, at least it sounds like the overdrive will do well. And how well do you think the RW&B can handle high gain from the AMT SS20 preamp? I am not sure how much breakup it would have with about 30 watts for practice or 60 watts for giging (from my power amp) but it is my understanding speaker breakup can be undesired when getting your distortion from the preamp/pedals, maybe I am wrong.
