Eminence speaker questions

Hi all, its been a while! Coming for the best advice around.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the light weight speakers by eminence - i.e. the Lil' Texas and/or the Tonkerlite.
I am looking to lighten up a 4x12 cab and also a Gibson Goldtone 2x12 combo. My notion of light weight speakers is that they are overly trebly with little low end depth - am I wrong.
Think Mark Knopfler's clean tone and David Gilmour overdriven solo tone in terms of what I'm looking for in so far as a speaker can help with that :)
Thanks for any help.
Peace

Re: Eminence speaker questions

Sounds like Celestion type sound like the Blue or the Jensen Neos. Gilmour uses Frane speakers in his HiWatt Cabinets. They are like the Celestion Blues with a little more aggression and more output. The Little Texas is more ZZ Top like.

neo speakers are a little brighter than a typical ceramic or alnico but also significantly lighter. i use eminence neo 10" for my bass rig and i like them alot. i heard a pair of the tonkerlite's in a 2x12 and i thought it sounded pretty good. good bottom, clear upper mids and a fairly open top end. it didnt have the low mid girth of a g12h or anything but a 4oz magnet vs a 56oz is a big difference

BRHGM and Jeremy - thanks for the feedback!
Jeremy, when you heard the 2x12 cab with the tonkerlites - did it hold together well as a clean sound at louder volumes or did you not check it out that long. I imagine putting them in a 4x12 would help with the low end somewhat but I'm also looking for a very clean speaker - the eminence site says they are a medium break up speaker.
BRHGM - I looked up gilmours rig after reading your post - DANG Fane speakers can get up there in cost. It appears that he used the Fane Crescendo speakers and they appear to be mostly a recommended Bass speaker....... interesting! They difinitely wouldn't break up easily and he liked to start out with a clean sound......

the clean tone was pretty good, i didnt crank the amp up to push the speakers that much but it was louder than most people play at home and they were still clean
