Enclosures for tube head? Separating amp from speaker

Because of back problems, I want to take the amp head out of my Peavey Classic 30 and put in a new enclosure, leaving the speaker in the original enclosure.

Any idea where I can get an enclosure for the electronics?

Thanks

I priced one out here in LA and they were upwards of $300.00. I'll see if I can dig up the name of the place.

It'd be cool to take an amp like a Classic 30 and put it in a natural finished hardwood headbox, and use a matching 1-12 or 2-12 cab. It might look funny in it's own headbox, sitting on it's original cab, with the chassis missing.

I really don't think the chassis and those small transformers weight all that much. I suggest you remove it and weight it. Those chassis are not like say a twin reverb were there is a lot of metal and the trannies weight a bit.

I have an extremely bad back condition so weight is an issue. I would say from experience lifting it is one thing but transporting an amp is the biggest problem. Maybe one of those light weight amp caddies might be the answer and asking someone to help you put the amp were you want it.

I did the same thing with my Line 6 Spider II amp - for the same reason - it was just too heavy. Here are some pics - just to show it can be done. I happen to like the rustic shipping crate look, but you get as fancy as you want.

Good points, Big Daddy.

I've seen Stebco luggage carriers used to port amps around quite nicely.

Nice Job, RW James.

Is that regular quarter-inch cable you use to connect your amp head to your speaker cabinet?

Thanks....

For a small amp the c30 is heavy and people with back trouble would have a hard time for sure... just for the hell of it i thought about removinging my C30's amp from the combo into a head version.. But i would make the cab myself... You can get Home Depot to cut wood for you at an extra charge... screw and glue it together and cover the box with some sort of speaker covering.... Since it is a head only you do not have to worry about how the wood you use sounds... you could use light solid pine, any plywood, Fancy wood with a stain and spray finnish... anything....

Thanks...I made that cable from a 16ga power cord and 1/4" jacks. I have since replaced it with CBI Monst-12 - 262 Strands cable (looks like Monster, but cheaper)

I need to move the jack around back some day...
