Encore guitars

Re: Encore guitars

My 1st ever guitar was a black Encore Strat with a single humbucker, tone/volume controls that didn't work and the action was 6" high with little to no adjustment available.

I eventually sold it with 4 year old strings on as I needed a hardcase for my 1st LP copy :D

Well ... I dont know if I should be embarassed for saying this .... I've got an Encore SG copy got free so to speak ... its really beat up, but I kinda like it. Should I just keep it as you know, something to chug on or should I actually spend money on it and putt a floyd and decent electronics on it?

Re: Encore guitars

I took the headstock off one of those encore sgs once. Not on purpose, but it didn't take much effort... It really was a turd of a guitar. Just some cheap korean knock off, could have been one of any number of those type of guitars.

Re: Encore guitars

I'd hazard a guess and say it's made of plywood... and from the ones i've seen the frets and general workmanship was awful... so i'd tend to think that plowing money would just be like polishing a turd.

If you're going to be spending money on parts, might as well save up a couple hundred first and get a decent body & neck to put them on.
The body is actually solid wood, but frets yeah, the worst I've seen actually, there a bit of space between the end of the fret and the edge of a fretboard on more than half frets ... But every time I plug in I am amazed how decent it sounds conisdering how bad it looks and how beat up it is. Hmm ... I think you might have a point about polishing a turd ...
